The Knoxville Museum of Art is East Tennessee's premier visual arts institution. They are proud to present the rich artistic heritage of East Tennessee as well as a lively schedule of special exhibitions and related programs featuring artists of regional, national, and international reputation, and art classes and outreach programs for children and adults.
The KMA wanted to provide an online experience that reflected their love of the visual arts. The web site needed also needed to inform users about what the KMA offers, information for visitors and groups as well as more information about the works of art they have on display.
DMGx designed a visually appealing web site that highlighted the various exhibits and events the KMA has to offer. The strategy was to design a web site that would “stay out of the way” of the art by using neutral colors for the global interface. These neutral colors allow the photos of the exhibits to pop off the page. DMGx also developed a custom calendar application for the KMA that allows them to add and edit upcoming events to the web site without knowledge of special HTML code. DMGx continues to assist the KMA by making regular web site updates and by developing exhibit-related kiosks.
