Double Rafter H Construction (DRH) is a south-Texas based company dedicated to providing premium site construction services to the oil, gas and rancher industries. Founded in 2004, DRH has established itself as a regional leader in the high growth oilfield construction market.
As a high growth company with capital equipment and employees spread over a wide area, DRH Construction needed a more efficient way to manage data and assets integral to the company's workflow and build process. There was a strong need to move away from the printed, paper “packets” in use on each jobsite. These packets were unwieldy and difficult to manage with everything about the job in one massive file including employee timesheets, fuel usage logs, purchase orders, material hauling logs, and general job information. Not only was collecting and managing the data difficult and error prone, from a management perspective it was nearly impossible to audit for trends across jobs, employees, supervisors and the company at large. The old system left DRH Construction without a reliable and efficient way to measure their business in real-time which made planning, bidding, and investing far more challenging. With millions of dollars of capital equipment in the field and massive projects to manage and bid on, DRH needed a solution that would revolutionize how they do business.
DMGx proposed and built a custom software solution, built upon the industry-leading Ruby on Rails framework, to address this challenge. This revolutionary web application provides a simple way for DRH administrators to manage jobs, employees, and supervisors; quickly and easily notice trends across jobs, employees, and supervisors company-wide; easily audit employee timesheets, fuel usage logs, and general job information; plus manage third party vendors and track purchase orders. Information is entered on-site by supervisors and employees directly into the system. This sea change in process has delivered real-time data to DRH Construction's management team which means they can make better decisions about how to run and plan the business from company headquarters or when they are on the go. Since the beta launch in Summer 2011, DRH Construction has adopted the web application exclusively for managing the business across all projects company wide. DMGx continues to work with DRH to add features to the platform and further enhance it to meet their needs.
